Standard ENStandard Specification for Solid Wall High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Conduit Based on Controlled Outside Diameter (OD)
Also Known As:
The ASTM F2160-22 standard is a specification that outlines the requirements for solid wall high density polyethylene (HDPE) conduit. This conduit is used in nonpressure applications for the protection of communication, CATV, or power wire and cables. The conduit is manufactured as OD controlled solid wall, with or without internal or external ribs.
The standard covers various aspects of the HDPE conduit, including material, dimensional, workmanship, and performance requirements. The conduit should be made according to Iron Pipe Size (IPS) and may have a coextruded layer on the internal or external surface, as long as the finished conduit meets the specified product requirements.
The standard also addresses testing requirements for the conduit. It should undergo tests for elongation, impact, and ovality to ensure its performance meets the specified standards.
In addition to its primary use in communication, CATV, or power applications, the HDPE conduit specified in this standard can also be used for the protection of fiber optic and power cables in various non-pressure applications, such as telecom, SCADA command and control, highway lighting, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), and underground utilities.
