BS EN IEC 60895:2020 is a standard that specifies the requirements for conductive clothing used during live working on electrical installations. The purpose of the conductive clothing is to ensure electrical continuity between all parts of the clothing and to reduce the electric field inside the clothing. This standard applies to conductive clothing made up of garments such as jackets, trousers, or coveralls, as well as component parts like gloves, hoods or helmets, shoes or boots, overshoe socks, and socks. The standard is applicable to electrical systems with nominal voltage up to 1,000 kV AC and up to ±800 kV DC.

It is important to note that this standard does not provide values for protection from electric arc effects, as guaranteeing such protection would require heavy and rigid conductive clothing which would hinder work execution. The products designed and manufactured in accordance with this standard contribute to user safety, provided they are used by properly trained individuals following live working methods and instructions for use. The 2020 edition of this standard replaces the previous edition published in 2002 and includes various technical changes, such as increased use up to 1,000 kV AC and ±800 kV DC, introduction of two classes of conductive clothing with different electrical requirements, and revisions to electrical requirements, specific resistance values for component parts, mechanical requirements, and tests for fabrics, among others.
