Standard EN SampleRoad Vehicles. Diagnostic Communication over Internet Protocol (DoIP). Transport Protocol and Network Layer Services
Also Known As:
The BS ISO 13400-2:2019 standard defines the requirements for communication between client DoIP entities and server(s) installed in vehicles using Internet Protocol (IP). It covers both secured and unsecured diagnostic communication, utilizing the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP).
The standard specifies the essential features for detecting a vehicle in a network and establishing communication with the vehicle gateway and its sub-components during various vehicle states. These features are categorized into mandatory and optional requirements.
The mandatory features include vehicle network integration, vehicle announcement and discovery, retrieval of basic status information, connection establishment and maintenance, data routing to and from sub-components, and error handling. These features are necessary for the proper functioning of the diagnostic communication over IP.
The standard also offers optional features such as DoIP entity status monitoring, transport layer security (TLS), and DoIP entity firewall capabilities. These features can provide additional functionality and security to the diagnostic communication system, but their implementation is not mandatory according to the standard.
