Standard EN SampleSpecification of Color Appearance for Reflective Media and Self-Luminous Display Comparisons
Also Known As:
The CIE 195:2011 standard summarizes the work conducted by CIE Technical Committee 1-27 from 1990 to 2001. The committee aimed to develop a color appearance model that could accurately predict visual results from hardcopy and softcopy matching experiments under various viewing conditions. However, they found that existing color appearance models did not consistently or adequately predict these results.
In 2001, the committee passed their findings to CIE Technical Committee 8-01, which focused on color appearance modeling for color management systems. Committee 8-01 combined the best features of the studied color appearance models to develop an effective model called CIECAM02. This model aimed to accurately predict color appearance for both reflective media and self-luminous displays.
