The CSA C22.2 NO. 60320-1:19 standard is a harmonized standard developed by the CSA Group and UL. It is the second edition of CSA-C22.2 No. 60320-1 and the third edition of UL 60320-1. This standard supersedes previous editions and has been jointly revised on February 17, 2020.

The standard is based on IEC Publication 60320-1, which sets the general requirements for appliance couplers for two poles and two poles with earth contact, allowing for the connection of electrical devices for household and similar purposes to the mains supply. It is applicable to appliance inlets/appliance outlets integrated or incorporated in appliances.

The standard covers appliance couplers with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V (AC) and a rated current not exceeding 16A. These couplers are suitable for normal use at ambient temperatures up to +40°C, with an average over a period of 24 hours not exceeding +35°C. The lower limit of the ambient air temperature is -5°C.

However, appliance couplers complying with this standard are not suitable for use in place of plug and socket-outlet systems according to IEC 60884-1, or for use in place of devices for connecting luminaires (DCLs) according to IEC 61995 or luminaire supporting couplers (LSCs). It is noted that requirements for direct current (DC) applications are currently under consideration.
