Additional test requirements are specified for equipment operating outside the standard temperature range, and further consideration and testing may be required for equipment operating outside the standard atmospheric pressure range and oxygen content.

The standard does not address safety requirements unrelated to the explosion risk. It considers various potential ignition sources associated with this type of equipment, such as hot surfaces, electromagnetic radiation, mechanically generated sparks, mechanical impacts, electrical arcing, and static electric discharge.

The document also mentions that when both explosive gas and combustible dust atmospheres are present simultaneously, additional protective measures should be taken. Additional guidance for using equipment in hybrid mixtures is provided in IEC 60079-14.
