Standard EN EN FRLow-voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 7-2: Ancillary equipment - Protective conductor terminal blocks for copper conductors
Also Known As:
The CAN/CSA-C22.2 NO. 60947-7-2:17 standard is a harmonized standard developed by ANCE, CSA Group, and UL. It is the first edition of the standard and supersedes the previous edition published in 2011.
The scope of this standard is to specify the requirements for protective conductor terminal blocks with PE function up to 120 mm2 and for protective conductor terminal blocks with PEN function equal to and above 10 mm2. These terminal blocks can have either screw-type or screwless-type clamping units and are primarily intended for industrial applications.
The standard covers the connection of round copper conductors with cross-sections ranging from 0.2 mm2 to 120 mm2, with a rated voltage not exceeding 1,000 V AC up to 1,000 Hz or 1,500 V DC. The protective conductor terminal blocks are used to form the electrical and mechanical connection between the copper conductors and the fixing support.
The standard also includes modifications to certain clauses, such as expanding the range of cross-sections to include 0.1 mm2 and adding a provision for insulation displacement terminals. Additionally, it specifies that terminal blocks with PEN function (Protective, Earth, and Neutral) are not permitted.
The standard can be used as a guide for terminal blocks requiring special devices for conductor fixation, such as quick connect terminations or wrapped connections. It also covers terminal blocks that provide direct contact to the conductors through insulation penetration or displacement connections.
