Standard ENFR EN FRShunt power capacitors of the non-self-healing type for a.c. systems having a rated voltage up to and including 1000 V - Part 1: General - Performance, testing and rating - Safety requirements - Guide for installation and operation
Also Known As:
IEC 60931-1:1996 is a standard that sets out the general requirements, testing and rating criteria, safety requirements, and guidelines for the installation and operation of shunt power capacitors of the non-self-healing type. These capacitors are designed to be used in alternating current (a.c.) systems with a rated voltage up to and including 1000 V.
The standard applies to both individual capacitor units and capacitor banks, which are used for power-factor correction in a.c. power systems. It covers frequencies ranging from 15 Hz to 60 Hz. Additionally, the standard also includes capacitors intended for use in power filter circuits.
The objective of IEC 60931-1:1996 is to ensure the reliable and safe performance of shunt power capacitors by establishing consistent requirements for their design, testing, and operation.
