Standard ENFR EN FRSwitches for Appliances - Part 1: General Requirements
Also Known As:
The IEC 61058-1:2016 standard specifies the general requirements for switches used in appliances. It is applicable to switches that are designed to control electrical appliances and similar equipment in households or similar environments. The standard sets limits for the rated voltage and current of these switches, where the voltage should not exceed 480 V and the current should not exceed 63 A.
The 2016 edition of the standard supersedes the previous editions and includes technical revisions. Notably, the requirements for mechanical switches are now specified in a separate standard, IEC 61058-1-1, while the requirements for electronic switches are specified in IEC 61058-1-2. These changes allow for a more precise definition and regulation of different types of switches used in appliances.
