Standard ENFR EN FRConnecting Devices - Electrical Copper Conductors - Safety Requirements for Screw-Type and Screwless-Type Clamping Units - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Clamping Units for Conductors above 35 mm2 up to 300 mm2 (Included)
Also Known As:
The IEC 60999-2:2003 standard specifies safety requirements for screw-type and screwless-type clamping units used to connect electrical copper conductors. These clamping units can be used as separate entities or as integral parts of equipment. The standard applies to conductors with a cross-section above 35 mm2 and up to and including 300 mm2. The rated voltage for these conductors should not exceed 1,000 V AC and the frequency should be up to and including 1,000 Hz and 1,500 V DC.
This standard is primarily intended for clamping units designed to connect unprepared conductors. It does not apply to clamping units used for connection by crimping or soldering, or to non-universal clamping units as defined in another standard, IEC 60999-1.
IEC 60999-2:2003 has the status of a group safety publication, according to the guidelines provided in IEC Guide 104. This means that it is part of a series of standards that focus on safety requirements for connecting devices and aims to ensure the proper and safe use of these devices.
