Explosive Atmospheres - Part 15: Equipment Protection by Type of Protection "n"

SKU913795249 Published by International Electrotechnical Commission IEC Publication Date2010-01-28 Pages CountPages150

IEC 60079-15:2010 is a standard that provides requirements for constructing, testing, and marking electrical equipment with type of protection "n" for use in explosive gas atmospheres. This standard applies to equipment with a rated voltage not exceeding 15 kV AC or DC. It complements and modifies the general requirements of IEC 60079-0, taking precedence over conflicting requirements. Several technical changes have been introduced in this edition of the standard, including the addition of equipment protection levels, removal of energy-limited "nL" requirements, expansion and clarification of requirements for electrical connections, luminaire ballasts, and motor rotors, as well as the inclusion of a new informative annex and updated references to IEC 60079-0. It is important to read this publication in conjunction with IEC 60079-0:2007 and consider the contents of the Interpretation sheet 1 from September 2016.
