Explosive Atmospheres - Part 26: Equipment with Equipment Protection Level (EPL) Ga
Also Known As:
IEC 60079-26:2014 standard provides specific requirements for electrical equipment that is designed to achieve Equipment Protection Level Ga. This standard is applicable when it is not possible to apply single standardized Types of Protection, such as Ex "ia," Ex "ma," or Ex "da."
The standard covers electrical equipment that is installed across different boundaries where varying levels of Equipment Protection may be required. This equipment is designed to ensure a high level of protection and reliability, even in the presence of rare malfunctions or independent dual malfunctions.
IEC 60079-26:2014 acts as a supplement and modification to the general requirements outlined in IEC 60079-0. In cases where there is a conflict between the requirements of these two standards, the requirements of IEC 60079-26:2014 take precedence.
This standard is the third edition and replaces the second edition published in 2006. It is considered a technical revision, with various changes highlighted in the Foreword of the document.
