Standard EN SampleStandard for Installing and Maintaining Motor Control Centers
Also Known As: NECA NEIS 402:2014
The NECA 402:2014 standard outlines the procedures for installing and maintaining low-voltage motor control centers (MCCs). These MCCs are rated at 600 VAC or lower and have a horizontal bus rating of 2,500 amperes or less.
The standard recognizes that MCCs can be equipped with factory-installed dry-type transformers and panelboards. However, the testing and maintenance of these components are covered in separate standards: NECA 409 for dry-type transformers and NECA 407 for panelboards.
MCCs are commonly used in commercial and industrial facilities. They provide an efficient and cost-effective solution for consolidating multiple motor controllers in a single location. This centralization simplifies motor servicing, allows for easier monitoring of control systems, and enhances the operation of mechanical and HVAC systems within the facility.
