Standard EN SampleElectrical Installations - Requirements for the Safe Supply of Electricity to Installations, Facilities and Equipment Operating at Non-Standard Voltages and Frequencies
Also Known As:
The NZS 6114:2006 standard is designed to ensure the safe supply of electricity to installations, facilities, and equipment operating at non-standard voltages and frequencies. This includes installations and equipment sourced from outside New Zealand that may operate at voltages and/or frequencies different from those used in New Zealand. The standard does not cover the supply of electricity to aircraft, hazardous area installations, electromedical installations, or installations using extra-low voltage (ELV).
However, an amendment (Amendment 2) was published on February 7, 2019, which specifically addresses aviation electrical installations, facilities, and equipment. This section of the standard applies to aviation-related installations and equipment that supply or use electricity at voltages or frequencies other than standard low voltage (SLV) and covers aircraft, airport aprons, aviation equipment, aviation support, and aviation repair workshops. This section focuses on the differences between the TN-C-S (MEN) configuration and the TN-C (Earth return) aircraft configuration, aiming to establish safety compliance for these disparate electricity regimes.
