Standard EN SampleLow-Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear - Part 7-3: Ancillary Equipment - Safety Requirements for Fuse Terminal Blocks
Also Known As:
UL 60947-7-3:2021 is a standard that focuses on the safety requirements for fuse terminal blocks used in low-voltage switchgear and controlgear systems. It applies to fuse terminal blocks with screw-type or screwless-type clamping units designed to connect rigid or flexible copper conductors for the reception of cartridge fuse-links.
The standard is primarily intended for industrial or similar use in circuits with voltage levels not exceeding 1,000 V AC, up to 1,000 Hz or 1,500 V DC, and maximum short-circuit breaking capacity of 1,500 A. The fuse terminal blocks are intended to be installed in electrical equipment with enclosures that limit their accessibility to only with the aid of a tool.
The standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for the mechanical, electrical, and thermal characteristics of the fuse terminal blocks, ensuring their compatibility with standardized fuse-links. It also allows for the use of special cartridge fuse-links that do not meet the requirements of IEC 60127-2.
Additionally, the standard can serve as a guide for fuse terminal blocks that require the fixing of special devices to the conductors or provide direct contact to the conductors through means like insulation displacement connections. The term "clamping unit" is used instead of "terminal" in the standard, aligned with IEC 60947-1.
Furthermore, the standard includes modifications that specify requirements for fuse terminal blocks in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and NOM-001-SEDE for use in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, respectively.
