The UL 2021:2021 standard specifies the requirements for electric room heating equipment that is permanently installed or designated for specific locations. This standard applies to equipment with a voltage rating of 600 volts or lower and is intended for use in ordinary locations as defined by the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70).
The standard excludes certain types of heaters from its scope, including movable heaters, wall- or ceiling-hung heaters, baseboard heaters, duct heaters, central-heating furnaces, fan-coil units, panel- or cable-type radiant-heating equipment, and electric boilers. These excluded equipment types may have their own separate and individual requirements that are not covered by this standard.
