Standard ENFR EN FRSwitches for Household and Similar Fixed-Electrical Installations - Part 1: General Requirements
Also Known As:
The IEC 60669-1:2017 standard specifies the requirements for manually operated general purpose functional switches used in household and similar fixed electrical installations. These switches are designed for alternating current (AC) with a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V and a rated current not exceeding 63 A. However, for switches with screwless terminals, the rated current is limited to 16 A.
This fourth edition of the standard replaces the previous third edition from 1998, along with its amendments. The technical revision includes several significant changes compared to the previous version. Some of these changes include a scope change for motor load switches, deletion of certain normative references, modifications to definitions, clarification on the number of specimens required for tests, specification of switches for which certain tests must be carried out, inclusion of requirements for 13 A switches, mandatory indication for terminals suitable for rigid conductors only, requirements and test conditions for flexible conductors, requirements for pilot light units, a new test for self-ballasted lamp loads, and changes to tables and informative annexes related to various aspects of the standard.
Additionally, this edition incorporates the contents of the January 2020 corrigendum, ensuring an up-to-date and accurate representation of the standard.
