Standard ENFR EN FRSwitches for Household and Similar Fixed-Electrical Installations - Part 1: General Requirements
Also Known As:
IEC 60669-1:1998+AMD1:1999+AMD2:2006 CSV is a standard that specifies the general requirements for manually operated switches used in household and similar fixed electrical installations. It applies to switches designed for alternating current (a.c.) only, with a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V and a rated current not exceeding 63 A.
This standard emphasizes safety and functionality, ensuring that the switches are reliable and suitable for use in various indoor and outdoor environments. It contains provisions for terminals, mechanical strength, insulation, heating, electrical and mechanical endurance, dielectric properties, and clearance and creepage distances. It also covers requirements for glow lamps, terminals for conductors, and the marking and identification of switches.
The standard consists of the third edition (1998), as well as amendments 1 (1999) and 2 (2006), which have been consolidated into this version. This means that there is no need to order separate amendments in addition to this publication.
