SKU191325894 Published by International Electrotechnical Commission IEC Publication Date2014-11-25 Pages CountPages142

IEC 60092-507:2014 is a standard that outlines the requirements for electrical installations in small vessels. These vessels can have a length of up to 50 meters or a gross tonnage not exceeding 500 GT, and they can be used on inland waters or at sea. The standard does not apply to small craft that only have a battery for engine starting and navigation lighting or recreational craft of less than 24 meters hull length that need to conform to the Recreational Craft Directive.

The third edition of this standard includes important technical changes. Firstly, it clarifies its application for electrical installations in recreational craft that need to conform to the Recreational Craft Directive. Secondly, it specifies requirements for methods of galvanic isolation for small vessels and recreational craft that connect to a low voltage AC shore supply. Lastly, it provides design guidance for electric propulsion systems suitable for small vessels and outlines the associated installation requirements.
