Standard ENFR EN FRElectrical Installations in Ships - Part 507: Small Vessels
Also Known As:
IEC 60092-507:2008 is a standard that sets requirements for the electrical installations in small vessels. These vessels can have a length of up to 50 meters or a gross registered tonnage not exceeding 500 GRT. The standard covers vessels designed for use on both inland waters and at sea, but it does not apply to small craft that only have a battery for engine starting and navigation lighting, which is recharged from an inboard or outboard engine-driven alternator.
The second edition of this standard supersedes the first edition published in 2000. Some significant technical changes have been made in this edition. First, it incorporates requirements for DC, AC single phase, and AC 3-phase systems into a single document. Additionally, the standard now encompasses electrical installations for all small commercial or leisure vessels up to 50 meters or with a GRT not exceeding 500 GRT, regardless of their intended use on inland waters or at sea.
