SKU914195914 Published by International Electrotechnical Commission IEC Publication Date2010-11-29 Pages CountPages24

IEC 61058-2-5:2010 is a standard that specifies the requirements for change-over selectors used in appliances to control or operate electrical equipment. It applies to both mechanical and electronic selectors that are manually actuated by hand, foot, or other human activity. The rated voltage for the appliances should not exceed 480 V, and the rated current should not exceed 63 A.

This second edition of the standard is a technical revision that supersedes the first edition published in 1994. The main changes in this edition include an updated scope, the inclusion of abnormal operation and fault conditions for electronic switches, requirements for components used in electronic switches, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements.

It is important to note that this standard should be used in conjunction with IEC 61058-1:2000, which provides general requirements for switches for household or similar purposes. Together, these standards ensure the safety and functionality of change-over selectors used in appliances.
