Also Known As:
ISO 13400-2:2012 is a standard that defines the requirements for diagnostic communication between external test equipment and vehicle electronic components using Internet Protocol (IP). It establishes the use of transmission control protocol (TCP) and user datagram protocol (UDP) for communication. The standard also outlines the requirements for vehicle gateway integration into existing computer networks and the detection and establishment of communication with a vehicle.
The standard specifies mandatory and optional features for detecting a vehicle in a network and enabling communication with the vehicle gateway and its sub-components during different vehicle states. The mandatory features include vehicle network integration, vehicle announcement and discovery, retrieval of basic status information, connection establishment and maintenance, data routing, and error handling.
Additionally, ISO 13400-2:2012 specifies optional features such as DoIP entity status monitoring and DoIP entity firewall capabilities.
