Standard EN SampleRoad Vehicles - Functional Safety - Part 7: Production and Operation
Also Known As:
ISO 26262-7:2011 is a standard that specifically focuses on the production and operation of safety-related systems in road vehicles. It is applicable to passenger cars with a maximum gross vehicle mass up to 3,500 kg but does not cover special purpose vehicles or systems already in production or under development prior to the publication of the standard.
The standard primarily addresses hazards that may arise from malfunctions in electrical and electronic (E/E) safety-related systems, including their interaction. It does not cover hazards related to electric shock, fire, smoke, heat, radiation, toxicity, flammability, reactivity, corrosion, energy release, and similar hazards unless they are directly caused by malfunctioning E/E safety-related systems.
Additionally, ISO 26262-7:2011 does not cover the performance of E/E systems themselves, even if dedicated functional performance standards exist for specific systems like active and passive safety systems or brake systems. Instead, it focuses specifically on the requirements for production, operation, service, and decommissioning of the safety-related systems in road vehicles.
