Approval and Test Specification - General Requirements for Electrical Equipment
Also Known As:
AS/NZS 3100:2017 is a standard that outlines the general safety requirements for electrical equipment used in buildings, structures, and premises. It applies to a variety of equipment, including fittings, accessories, appliances, and apparatus, but excludes appliances within the scope of AS/NZS 60335.1 or a part 2 of this standard. However, it may still be referenced in approval and test specifications related to these appliances.
The standard provides guidelines for the design and testing of electrical equipment to ensure safety and protection against electric shock. Annex D contains additional information on the principles and application of double insulation, which can be beneficial for users before delving into the main body of the standard.
