Approval and Test Specification - General Requirements for Electrical Equipment
Also Known As:
AS/NZS 3100:2002 is a standard that establishes the general safety requirements for electrical equipment used in buildings, structures, and premises. It applies to equipment such as fittings, accessories, appliances, and apparatus of various classes and types. However, it does not apply to appliances that fall under the scope of AS/NZS 3350.1 or AS/NZS 60335.1, unless specified in an approval and test specification.
The standard also includes guidelines in Annex D, which covers the design and testing of electrical equipment to ensure safety and protection against electric shock. This includes the principles and application of double insulation. Users of the standard are advised to refer to Annex D before reading the main body of the standard to gain a better understanding of the principles and practices related to safety requirements.
