Luminaires - Part 1: General requirements and tests
Also Known As:
IEC 60598-1:2014+A1:2017 CSV standard outlines the general requirements for luminaires, specifically those incorporating electric light sources with a supply voltage up to 1,000 V. This standard covers various aspects, including classification, marking, mechanical construction, electrical construction, and photobiological safety.
This eighth edition of the standard supersedes the previous seventh edition published in 2008 and has undergone significant technical changes. Notable updates include the inclusion of requirements to support the construction methods for newly emerging LED luminaires in the market, extension of photobiological requirements, more precise requirements for insulation between different types of electrical circuits, and other general updates and improvements.
The standard also includes the contents of the corrigenda issued in October 2015, December 2015, and May 2017, as well as interpretation sheet 1 released in May 2016. This consolidated version encompasses the eighth edition (2014) and its subsequent amendment 1 (2017), making it unnecessary to order the amendment separately.
