Luminaires - Part 2-22: Particular requirements - Luminaires for emergency lighting
Also Known As:
IEC 60598-2-22:2014 is a standard that specifies the particular requirements for luminaires used for emergency lighting. These luminaires are intended to be used with electrical lamps and emergency power supplies that do not exceed 1,000 volts. This standard is a technical revision of the previous edition published in 1997, with several significant technical changes.
Some of the notable changes in this edition include the addition of definitions for PELF (Portable Emergency Luminaire for Firefighting) and Self-contained portable emergency luminaire, requirements for non-replaceable lamps and batteries, improvements in the connection of charge indication to the circuit and clarifications regarding control gear and remote boxes, enhanced safety requirements for the luminaire, revised photometric testing to align with ISO and CIE standards, and referencing of requirements covered in IEC 61347 2-7.
The standard also incorporates changes in the classification of luminaires in Annex B, deletion of Figure C.1 in Annex C in favor of revised text, inclusion of nickel metal hydride batteries and reference to cell types in IEC 61951-1 in Annex A, and additional requirements for self-contained portable emergency luminaires in Annex E.
It is important to note that this publication should be read in conjunction with IEC 60598-1:2014, and the contents of the corrigenda of March 2015 and April 2016 have been included in this edition of the standard.
